Getting the hell outta here

So we put the house up for sale (just on kijiji and craigslist for now, it would be nice not to have to pay for a realtor again) and we are gettin out of here asap. I am over this town/province/winter/now mountains/no film scene. And Trish hates winter and is sick of West Ed Mall and all the people in it, so we are gonna pick up and start over again.

Vancouver here we come!

A Dogs Day

Just a quick little video I put together from a day at the dog park. I got a new tripod last week and needed to test it out so as usual I took Tak for a walk. Well the tripod is great, a little over kill for this kinda shooting but it's nice to use a good tripod again. Anyway new vid, enjoy.

High fashon at the dog park

So along with our big Good Will load of clothes Trish pulled out a Volcom hoodie that was too cool to toss but not quite her style anymore so......Tak got it. I will post up the video of Tak playin at the park in his hoodie as well as the first footage with my new tripod.

And my new tripod came in today! Thanks to Kelsey and Mom for getting it over the boarder for me. It is sweet, sooo nice to be on a real set of sticks again.

Random shot.
Moonlight pine cone crop.

Good Will

So me and Trish packed up a big pile of stuff that we no longer use/never used/got bored of/got to skinny to wear and brought it all to Good Will. It feels good to help out people who can't afford all this crap we buy, well we can't afford all the crap we buy either. Damn. But man there was some nice stuff in there that we just didn't use, like an almost new expresso machine, an in the box brand new Serious Radio kit, a complete matching set of dishes, a pair of like new DC, and Etnies shoes, a crap load of Trish's clothes. Oh well. Now we have room so we can fill it back up with more expensive crap!

And if you haven't yet, donate to Haiti.

So Trish can sew

Trish out of the blue decided she wanted to sew Tak a hoodie....ok. But I'm way to cheap to pay for fabric, so we went to Good Will and bought an old sweatshirt to cut up. Yes Im so cheap! And lucky Trish found a new TNA purse there too for like $4. haha.
Ok so here is the finished hoodie. (PS enjoy the anime style eyes on Tak)

A pic of me out shootin in the sunny park and a pic of my camera after it came in from the cold.

Whats new........

So havn't been posting up much in the last few days. I have been shooting lots and editing on my new computer tons. It's sweet and actually works! I have also started helping my cousin David track down info about my grandpa and his involvment with Marconi the father of wireless communication. So ya that is interesting and I hope to get my hands on some of his old film to have a look at and maybe cut together a little video. So anyway here are some pictures I shot in the last while.

Me and Trish drew the new sign at her Starbucks. My first corporate art project in a while. haha

Good day of picture takin'

So mom has been telling me about my grandpa and how he used to work for Alberta Government Telephone back in the day, she sent me on a search for an old display he made so after a couple days of googling and drivin to a couple places I found out it should be at the phone museum. They didn't have the display but I snapped a couple pics of the place anyway, oh well it was something to do for a couple days.

So after the museum we dropped Trish off at work and me and Tak went for a good long walk. Tak survived and played for 2 hours in -14 and deep snow, and I got a couple good timelaps videos as well.

Bokeh

So while out walking Tak and shooting for 365pix I got caught out in the dark and had no tripod. So I figured I would play with bokeh to cover up my shaky hands. Bokeh is the term that describes the out of focus area of a photo and is often used to describe pleasing or distracting blur. Plus in this situation I could "focus" on the colors and not worry about having nothing nice to shoot.

Shootin pix

I've been shooting lots of pics lately for my other blog and trying to find new things to shoot. Sooo I have been driving all over the city checkin out new spots I've never been, and I hound a couple cool ones. I went to the Legislature building and shot a few pics of it, it's actually a pretty nice building and it's all lit up for the holidays. I shot a couple HDR photos too which I haven't done in a while. I think they turned out ok except for my ghetto ebay tripod wont stay level so a bunch of the shots are crooked.

This spot is a cool view but unfortunatly the shots turned out blurry due to my ebay tripod not being stable enough for long exposures. But it's still a neat shot and I will go re shoot it some day soon. Thats the North Sask. river in the bottom with a little ski hill on the bank and a huge oil refinery right behind it. Sweet, lets go shred the pollution powder!

Cold new years day

Since I already posted my pic of the day on the new blog I fugured I would throw these up here. It was a nice but chilly day today so I took a couple pics of the frost on the kitchen window and then me and Tak went for a walk around the block and I snapped a nice 2:30 in the afternoon sunset. Gotta love livin in the north.

2010... lets hope it's better than 2009

Happy New Year! Today is a brand new day, and I hope a brand new year. 2009 was a tough year, getting layed off and having no money has been challenging but at the same time me Trish and Tako have pulled together andare doing pretty wellwith what we have. I also did and learened alot in 09 like how to build a real drift car from scratch and after spending alot of time with Conroy I learned the in's and out's of RX7s pretty darn well and had some good times doing it. And finnaly 09 has set me back on track towards my original passion of capturing images, I strayed into a new profession over the last few years in search of stable income and more money and just got screwed and unhappy. So I am happy to say I am fully comitted to getting back into filming, photography, drawing, even a bit of writing, and I am excited to make a real go of it this time around. I have been trying to take a photo or video every day just to get using the gear again so for my newyears resolution I have created another blog for just photos and I am starting a 365 day photo per day project to expand my photographic skills and creativity.

Check out my new 365pix project here > http://corby-365pix.blogspot.com/

I will be posting a picture everyday hopefully or at least taking a pic a day and posting when I can get to it. So anyway 09 was a tough one but I feel it just made me and Trish appreciate what we had in BC allot more and we are both very excited to move back in 2010, Trish will hopefully continue kicking ass at Starbucks and climbing the corporate ladder and I will be trying my best to get my foot in the door with the big boys in the real film world.

So cheers to 2010 and new possibility's.
